Firmware Without the Fear: Safely Updating Your Miner
Maintaining peak hash efficiency on your Bitaxe requires running the latest ESP-Miner firmware. While the prospect of flashing core operating files can induce anxiety regarding hardware failure or bricking, the modern Over-The-Air (OTA) process via the AxeOS web interface is highly structured and secure. This guide outlines the exact operating procedure required to update your node safely.
The Standard OTA Update Protocol
1
Access the AxeOS InterfaceOpen your preferred web browser and enter the local IP address assigned to your Bitaxe. This address is displayed on the device's OLED screen upon boot. Navigate to the Settings tab within the interface.
2
Acquire the BinariesWithin the Settings menu, locate the Firmware Update section. You will need to download two distinct files locally to your computer:
• esp-miner.bin: The core controller firmware.
• www.bin: The graphical web interface for AxeOS.
3
Flash the Web InterfaceUnder the Update Website heading, click Browse and select the www.bin file you downloaded. Confirm the execution. The interface will install automatically and prompt your browser to reload.
4
Flash the Core FirmwareOnce the page reloads, proceed to the Update Firmware heading. Select Browse and choose the esp-miner.bin file. Confirm the execution. The flash process requires approximately 60 seconds, after which the Bitaxe will autonomously execute a hard reset and reboot with the new protocol.
