Howard Blum was born in 1948, in the bustling city of New York, into a family with a strong foundation in both education and business. His father, Harold K. Blum, was a respected executive at the Kane Miller Corporation in Tarrytown, New York.
His mother, Gertrude Blum, was a dedicated schoolteacher in New York City. From a young age, Howard was surrounded by the influences of diligence and intellect, traits that would shape his future career.
As a young boy, Howard displayed a keen interest in storytelling and the world around him.
His academic journey began at the prestigious Horace Mann School, where he honed his skills in writing and critical thinking.
Eager to expand his horizons, Howard pursued higher education at Stanford University. It was here that he not only earned his undergraduate degree but also achieved a Master's degree in government in 1970.
