UGK - Underground Kingz || 2007 CD Double-Album Jive Records Release

Fifth studio album Underground Kingz by the legendary American hip hop duo UGK was released on August 7, 2007, by Jive Records.

This album features an impressive lineup of producers, including Lil Jon, Jazze Pha, Swizz Beatz, DJ Paul, and Pimp C himself, and guest appearances from notable artists like T.I., Talib Kweli, Rick Ross, Big Daddy Kane, Slim Thug, Too Short, Charlie Wilson, OutKast, Three 6 Mafia, and many others. The album was supported by two major singles The Game Belongs to Me and Int'l Players Anthem (I Choose You) featuring OutKast. The latter of which received widespread acclaim and won the BET Hip Hop Award for Video of the Year in 2008.

Upon release Underground Kingz debuted at number one on the US Billboard 200 chart. Selling 160,000 copies in its first week. A major accomplishment marking a significant commercial success for UGK.

Critical response was exceeding of grand preexisting expectations. The album was praised for its robust production and the duo's dynamic performances.

This project is particularly notable as it features the final performances of Pimp C before his untimely death on December 4, 2007. The track Int'l Players Anthem (I Choose You) not only became a commercial hit by reaching number 70 on the Billboard Hot 100 but was also nominated for the Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group and was listed as number 10 on Rolling Stone's 100 Best Songs of 2007.
