'Salem's Lot by Stephen King
A small New England town is about to be consumed by an ancient evil. From master storyteller Stephen King, 'Salem's Lot' is a classic American horror novel and his second published book, which cemented his status as a legendary author of the genre.
A Town Under Siege
Ben Mears, a moderately successful writer, returns to the quiet town of Jerusalem's Lot to write a novel and to exorcise a terror that has haunted him since childhood. The event he witnessed was in the Marsten House, which now has a new resident who causes Ben a growing sense of unease. As things begin to happen, the residents of Jerusalem's Lot discover that the ancient and terrifying legend of vampires is all too real. A plague of nightstalking beings descends upon the small community, threatening to claim everyone inside.
Dr. Montague’s words prove prophetic: "A ghost cannot hurt anyone; only the fear of ghosts can be dangerous." As the terror becomes more and more palpable, the town is faced with a horrifying and down-to-earth evil that will test them all.
