The Story of Ferdinand
by Munro Leaf | Illustrated by Robert Lawson
"The timeless classic of the bull who preferred flowers to the bullring."
🌸 A MASTERPIECE OF INDIVIDUALITY AND PEACE
For over eighty years, Ferdinand has inspired readers of all ages to stay true to themselves. This beloved tale remains a cornerstone of children's literature and the inspiration for the major motion picture.
Extended Synopsis
In The Story of Ferdinand, Munro Leaf introduces us to the world’s most peaceful bull. While his peers spend their days snorting, leaping, and butting heads to prove their strength for the bullfights in Madrid, Ferdinand has much simpler tastes. He is perfectly content to sit quietly under his favorite cork tree, basking in the shade and smelling the sweet fragrance of the flowers.
Everything changes when a series of unexpected events—and a poorly timed bumblebee—lead the scouts for the bullfights to believe Ferdinand is the fiercest beast in Spain. What follows is a humorous and touching journey to the heart of Madrid, where Ferdinand must face the ultimate test of his character. Paired with Robert Lawson’s iconic pen-and-ink illustrations, this story is a powerful reminder that there is great strength in kindness and peace.
