The Little Book of Data: Understanding the Powerful Analytics that Fuel AI, Make or Break Careers, and Could Just End Up Saving the World
by Justin Evans
Data is not about number crunching. It's about ideas. And when used properly (read: ethically), it is the problem solver of our time.
While many people feel intimidated by data, or think it's too complicated, author Justin Evans argues that understanding data is no longer optional—it's essential for every professional and citizen. As data and AI move to the center of our lives, learning to harness their power is key to both personal and professional success.
In The Little Book of Data, Evans demystifies the world of analytics through powerful, real-world stories. Each chapter features an expert who has used data to solve a major problem—from an entrepreneur creating a "loneliness score" to an epidemiologist saving lives by finding disease "hotspots." The stories are told in a fast-moving, vivid, and often humorous style, covering a wide range of fields including adtech, climate tech, genomics, and more.
Along the way, Evans shares lessons from his own two-decade career and offers practical thought-starters for readers to apply in their own organizations. By the end of this engaging book, you will gain the fluency to apply your "data superpowers" to your own mission and challenges. You will be, in other words, a data person.
