Translated from the original French by Frederick William Faber, D.D., True Devotion to Mary stands as one of the most profound and influential texts in Catholic spiritual literature. This special 1863 to 2013 Commemorative Edition preserves the renowned devotional guide, offering a comprehensive and deeply theological outline for total consecration to Jesus Christ through the Virgin Mary. Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort fervently advocates that the path taken by the God-man for our redemption—through Mary—remains our most perfect path to holiness.
Featuring structured meditations, timeless theological insights, and classic black-and-white illustrations—including A. Coutel's "La Comunion" (1847), Alejo Fernandez's oil painting "Virgin of the Navigators" (1535), and the "Miraculous Fresco of Our Lady of Good Counsel" in Genazzano, Italy—this commemorative volume is an indispensable resource for deepening a believer's spiritual commitment and surrender to Christ via Our Lady.
About the Author
Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort (1673–1716) was born in Brittany, France. Ordained to the priesthood in 1700, he preached so effectively against the errors of Jansenism that he was expelled from several French dioceses, prompting him to take his case directly to Rome. An ardent devotee of Our Lady, his motto became "To Jesus through Mary." He founded the Congregation of the Daughters of Divine Wisdom and the Company of Mary before passing away at the age of forty-three. He was canonized as the "Apostle of Mary" by Pope Pius XII in 1947.
